Your generosity fuels our farm's operations

Our Story

What we now know as Barrington Farm School was last owned by a man named Billy Vendituoli. Billy was the grandson of a young couple from Italy who bought the farm in 1897. Over the decades, Billy shared his knowledge of running the family farm with local students hired as summer farmhands, and at his passing in 2016, his family declared their wishes to continue his tradition and to preserve this last piece of farm land in Barrington. Thanks to an outpouring of community support, the land was purchased from Billy and protected from development, thus ensuring a vital part of our local heritage and a unique educational resource for our community.

To honor Billy’s legacy, a group of dedicated volunteers formed Barrington Farm School as a nonprofit with the mission to grow food, inspire learning, build community, and foster connection to the land.

Today the farm produces some 40 varieties of vegetables and flowers, processes food waste into high-quality compost, and engages hundreds of members of the community, especially youth, in learning about the production of fresh, healthy food and the environment.
